New Delhi: The Government has asked all universities recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to follow a uniform academic calendar. Chennai: Students from rural Tamil Nadu secured five of the top seven ranks in the MBBS/ BDS merit list released by Health Minister KKSSR Ramachandran on Wednesday. Interestingly, the State topper, P Praveen Kumar of Coimbatore and six others tied with a cut-off mark of 2007 in the merit list, which was prepared based on their scores in the plus two board examination. The Directorate of Medical Education used tiebreakers to award the seven ranks. The random number criteria had to be adopted to break the tie only in two cases.

Erode colleges had toppers in six disciplines, Tirupur in five and Udhagamandalam got one. Among the toppers, women outshone the men taking 16.

MBBS, BDS Merit List released

Chennai: The cut-off marks for students aspiring to study MBBS/BDS courses in Government Medical Colleges this year, culled from the XII standard results alone, were announced on Wednesday.

According to Health Minister KKSSR Ramachandran who made the announcement on Wednesday, the cut-off mark for the OC category this year is 197. For BC candidates it is 194.50, for MBCs, 191.75, SCs 187.25 and STs, 179. Seven candidates, who had qualified by scoring 200/200 in the examinations were slotted in the first seven places in the merit list.
