Vice Chancellor Stresses Need for 1,500 Universities
Chennai: The Knowledge Commission Report has stated that there is a need to create 1,500 universities in the next seven years, said Vice Chancellor of Anna University D Viswanathan.
He was speaking at a press meet, held in the city on Sunday to announce the inauguration of the 82nd annual meeting of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), jointly organised by the Anna University and AIU.
Around 150 vice chancellors of Indian and 20 from foreign universities will be taking part in the conference to begin on Monday.
