Definition of Corporal Punishment in Schools

Chennai: Condemning the incidence of corporal punishments in schools, Santha Sinha, chairperson, National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights, said the commission has defined the corporal punishment as any act of Violence "wherein the child feels loss of dignity."

Delivering a lecture on Addressing Violence against children in institutional settings: Role of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights,' she said that the corporal punishment was defined taking into consideration the complaints it received from children.
