PhD not needed for BEd College Principals

Coimbatore: The Bharathiar University (BU) has relaxed its norms for the appointment of principals in B.Ed colleges as it has found the 'in-charge' principals working for one day in most of the colleges.

As of now, only very few persons applying for the post of principal have the required qualification of M.Ed and Ph.D plus five years teaching experience.

Hence, the varsity has relaxed the qualification. Now M.Ed with five years teaching experience is enough, but the incumbents should take Ph.D within three years from the time of appointment.

The change was effected taking into consideration the availability of less number of doctorates in education, said Vice-Chancellor Prof. G

Thiruvasagam during a press briefing here recently.
