Women urged to be leaders in Emerging Technologies
Coimbatore: Women and youth have a pivotal role to play in the technological development of India, exhorted A Sivathanu Pillai, Chief Controller (R&D), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), New Delhi.
He was delivering the 18th convacation address at the Avinashilingam University here on Saturday.
Stating that India had transformed into a knowledge society over the years, Pillai said India would like to see more women spearheading the emerging technologies like nanotechnology and biotechnology.
Quoting from real life examples, Pillai, who is also the CEO and MD of BrahMos Aerospace, said women played a significant role in critical technological areas such as re-entry technology for missiles, development of super computer and multi-function radar, besides the area of biotechnology.
