Vacant Engineering seats in Tamilnadu: SC sticks to earlier order
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday directed that the order passed by it last year with regard to the lapsed seats in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges shall apply for the current academic year also.
A Bench, comprising Chief Justice Y. K. Sabharwal, Justice C. K. Thakker and P. K. Balasubramanyan, issued directions in this regard after hearing the submissions made by U. R. Lalith for the Consortium of Self-Financing Professional Arts and Science Colleges and V. G. Pragasam for Tamil Nadu. The apex court, last year, had directed that all seats remaining vacant are permitted to be filled up on the basis of the marks obtained in the Plus Two examinations conducted by the CBSE or other boards.
