UGC Chief calls for more Public funding in Higher Education

Chennai: Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sukhdeo Thorat, has called for more public funding in the area of higher education, in order to increase the number of individuals taking up higher education.

Delivering the fourth ONGC Endowment Lecture at the University of Madras here on Friday, Thorat said the Union Government should allocate more funds with which more educational institutions could be set up in different parts of the country.
