Chennai: A year down the line, organisers of the sesquicentennial celebrations of Madras University may well remember Monday with a mixture of pride and elation.
Set in motion by President Kalam, himself an alumnus, the inauguration of the year-long celebrations, which began on the varsity's 150th Foundation Day, was an occasion for everyone connected with the institution to introspect on what it meant to them and Indian higher education.
