Students and Teachers rally for animals
Chennai: It was a massive show of strength but in one voice. Nearly 500 students and 50 teachers from various city schools took to the streets as a part of the ‘Karunya Peace Rally’ held in the city.
The rally organized by Guru Shree Shantivijai Jain Vidyalaya Junior College saw students and teachers with placards and banners asking people to avoid using leather products, protect environment and to follow vegetarianism. The rally that was flagged off by Appaji Rao, the vice-chairman of Animals Welfare Board of India, went all the way from the school premises at Vepery and passed through Periamet, Choolai High Road and EVK Sampath Road before returning to the school campus. The rallyists also shouted slogans against cruelty to animals.
