Streamline SC/ST Admission Procedure, Arjun tells IITs
New Delhi: Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh wants all Indian Institutes of Technology to streamline the admission procedure for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes in particular and rank-holders in general.
The immediate provocation for the intervention by the Minister, who is the Chairman of the of the Council of the IITs, is the case of Balram Tudu, an ST candidate who could not appear for counseling at the IIT-Kharagpur earlier this year because of non-receipt of communication sent to him by post.
