Kalam Moots Tamil Search Engine
Thanjavur: President A P J Abdul Kalam underlined the need for developing web search engines that would provide information in Tamil, and urged Tamil University, Thanjavur, to discuss and arrive upon methods to make available the web contents in Tamil.
Delivering the valedictory address at the varsity’s Silver Jubilee celebrations here on Sunday, Dr Kalam said that there were a number of search engines, which provided and required information on the internet. However, they were compatible to English and other foreign languages. The varsity should take the initiative and enable internet users with the same information in Tamil. Dr Kalam, hailed as a lover of Tamil, suggested that the varsity spread Tamil across the globe through the internet.
