UGC asks big varsities to help rural institutions
Coimbatore: The University Grants Commission (UGC) wants the "better endowed" and "privileged" universities and colleges to network with underprivileged institutions in rural and remote areas to improve the quality of higher education in the country.
The UGC had recommended, in a national conference held recently in New Delhi with the Vice-Chancellors of various universities; that by forming such a network the well-established institutions could offer best talents and technology to rural, backward and deprived institutions.
