SASTRA University Merit List on June 9
The university follows a transparent admission process, based on merit, says S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, Dean, Planning and Development.
About 70 per cent of the seats are allotted based on the applicant's Plus Two marks after normalisation, wherein candidates from different examining authorities/boards are brought into the same scale of comparison, to create a merit list.
Explaining the normalisation process, Mr. Vaidhyasubramaniam says: a first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained hundred per cent marks and aggregate mark of all other students of the board are normalised with reference to that of the first rank student. For example, if the first rank is 97 per cent and an applicant's aggregate is 90 per cent, then the applicant's normalised percentage is 92.78 (90/97 x 100).
