Effort to take Gandhian Ideas to School Students

Madurai: The Gandhi Memorial Museum here would launch a programme on Gandhian thoughts for Standard VII to XII students in selected schools in southern Tamil Nadu.

The aim of the programme was to provide a comprehensive picture on Gahdhian ideas to students from VII to XII, said K Lakshmi Kanthan Bharathi, Secretary, Gandhi Museum.

The existing books on Gandhian Philosophy was not suitable for school students cannot understand a Salt Satyagraha Movement. Either it was beyond their comprehension or not entertaining,” he pointed out.

In order to overcome barrier, the museum was planning to design standards. The Standard VII students would be given exposure only to events like Gandhi’s letter to his parents highlighting his honesty (He requested his parents to forgive him for eating non-vegetarian food).
