Tamil University ties up with TNPL to grow Eucalyptus

Thanjavur: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Tamil University and the Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) to grow eucalyptus, required for the TNPL, in about 430 acres of the university campus for 15 years.

The MoU was signed by the University Registrar (in-charge) Dr G Bhaskaran and TNPL General Manager Padmanaban here on Thursday in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Dr C Subramanian, Department of Tamil Development and HR & CE special Commissioner and Secretary R Karpoora Sundarapandian and Department of Tamil Development Director Dr M Rajendran.

According to the MoU, the TNPL will grow eucalyptus in about 430 acres in the university, which in turn will get 30 per cent of the revenue for providing the land.
