Bharathidasan University Vice Chancellor Advocates Autonomy for Schools

Coimbatore: "It is a pity that at times a wrong answer printed in the textbook is memorised by the children while preparing for exam. A question, which the textbook does not contain, is considered 'out of portion.

Such practices should be put an end, says S Muthukumaran, former Vice - Chancellor, Bharathidasan University. Speaking at discussion organised by Indian Chamber and Kural on 'Uniform Education' here on Saturday, he said schools should be given free-hand in designing syllabus and teaching methods, that is more autonomy.
