Indian Institute of Technology’s Need to Connect Ananth
Chennai: There is a need for IIT Madras to connect with other IITs and scale up the socially relevant projects than can be undertaken together, M S Ananth, Director, IIT-M, said at the Pan IIT Madras Outreach programme held in the city on Saturday.
Ananth said that three was a lot of talent and social interest available at IITs.
“But people are afraid to get involved because they think it may take too much of their time. We need to learn to manage our time better,” he explained, adding that at least 100 faculty and 300 students could be relied upon to come forward and take up such projects. “There is enough goodwill and brain power, what is needed is heart power,” he said. He also stressed the importance on working with good NGOs in carrying out such work.
