Colleges want four Technical Universities

“Colleges in southern parts also require closer monitoring”

Chennai: Engineering colleges in the State want the Government to create four regional technical universities, in case at present structure, led by Anna University, is to be changed, for better academic administration.

When it came to power, the DMK Government announced its intention to create three technical universities, one each in Chennai, Tiruchi and Coimbatore.

At present, Anna University in Chennai has academic control over all 250 affiliated colleges, and a dozen constituent, government and aided institutions.

Heads of engineering colleges who have been seeking further changes in the way the affiliated institutions are administered discussed the issue here on Wednesday last.
