Tamil Nadu Plans Common University Act
Chennai: A Common University Act, introduction of shift system in government colleges and filling of vacancies in government and aided colleges are receiving top priority in improvement of higher education.
As the 18 universities in the state follow different rules leading to administrative difficulty, Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi said a Common University Act would be brought into effect before the end of the academic year.
Replying to a discussion in the Assembly on the demand for grants for higher education, Ponmudi said the DMK government’s policy on higher education was “quantity, quality and relevance”.
