Aid for tsunami-hit students
Villupuram: The Government of Tamilnadu would provide educational assistance to 70, 000 students affected by tsunami in Villupuram district, Minister for Fisheries K.P.P Samy said on Sunday.
He was addressing a gathering at the inaugural function of houses built for the tsunami victims by Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at Anaichakuppam in Villupuram district. He said that an assistance of Rs.300 would be provided to each of the affected school students. “The government will also provide scholarships to the students belonging to the fishing community who score high marks in government exams,” he said.
